Monday, Oct. 5, is the final day for Texans to register to vote in the Nov. 3 general election, which includes the race for Texas governor and more than a dozen other statewide offices.
Texas requires voters to register at least 30 days before an election. Monday is also the deadline for voters to update their registration if they have changed their name or address.
Voters can check their registration status and make sure their information is accurate through the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
If you have moved since you last voted, you should update your address, particularly if the move placed you in a different county or political district. Voters who have legally changed their name should also update their registration information.
Locally, voters will have several races on the ballot, including contests for State Representative in District 21 and State Senator in District 3.
There are also local elections for an Orangefield ISD school board seat and two commissioner’s seats on the Orange County Emergency Services District No. 2 board.
