Virginia “Ginnie” Sarah (Priddy) Rotsch, 81, went home to her Lord on July 25, 2025. She was born on August 30, 1943, to Herbert Elliott and Ruth Francis (Denning) Priddy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Groves, Texas. A graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, she was a member of the famed Indianettes drill team and aspired to help others and become a teacher. She attended Sam Houston State University where she earned degrees in English and History and met her future husband, Walter Cecil Rotsch of Austin.
Ginnie and Walter were married on October 2, 1965, in Groves before relocating to multiple duty stations due to Walter’s service with the Army including Fort Gordon, Georgia; Weierhof and Pirmasens in Germany; and McAlester, Oklahoma. After returning to Southeast Texas, she started a new chapter in her life raising two sons with Walter, actively supporting their academic growth, sports teams, band activities, and scouting endeavors. From being a Cub Scout Den Mother to a member of the Boy Scout troop committee, Ginnie was a major influence in their path to Eagle Scout, followed bysuccessful careers and the further development of their own loving family lives. Additionally, she found a new home with The Episcopal Church and ultimately worked her way up to become the Senior Warden on the vestry at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Port Arthur, and then actively served on the Altar Guilds at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Orange and Trinity Episcopal in Jasper. She was also on the Altar Guild for the Diocese of Texas and a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King. She taught at multiple grade levels for the Port Arthur Independent School District, enriching countless lives in the community, most notably working with teenage expectant mothers for over 30 years before retiring to their home in Groves and then most recently to Jasper to be closer to family.
