VIRGIE MAE PLAISANCE DENMARK September 29, 1922 ~ December 28, 2019
Virgie M. Denmark, died peacefully at age 97, on December 28, 2019, in Tulsa, OK. She was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. After her marriage to Marion Alexander (Denny) Denmark in 1941, she lived in Orange, Texas for 73 years. She spent her final 5 1⁄2 years living in the country home of her youngest daughter, just west of Houston, and near her eldest daughter in Tulsa, for her last 2 months.
After graduation from Beaumont High School, Virgie attended the University of Texas, where she studied Business Secretarial Skills, and met her husband-to-be. Coming to their marriage from different faith traditions, Virgie and Denny sought out a new church home together, choosing St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Her family and friends will miss her presence, but will hold her in memory, treasuring the blessings of her vibrant persona. She became an inspiration to so many because of her zest for life. She set an example of living life to the fullest, with an active lifestyle, positive attitude, sharp mind, quick wit, and an invincible spirit.
Virgie had verve! She defined that word with her vigor, spirit, and enthusiasm. She was a social butterfly and loved a good party! She enjoyed a lifetime of playing bridge, was an avid reader, seamstress, gardener, and delighted in observing birds and butterflies. She hiked, biked, canoed, tent and motorhome camped while on travel adventures with her husband. She was an excellent cook influenced by her family’s Louisiana roots and also excelled at pie baking, jelly making, and made her own mayonnaise. With a keen interest in genealogy, Virgie learned how to use a computer at the local library for research. In her 80’s, she bought her first home computer. She was on social media before some of her own children, and loved keeping in touch with everyone.
