
Violet “Sissy” Padgett Hunt, 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 12, 2024, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on December 2, 1945, she was the daughter of Emmery Padgett and Margie May (Heslip) Padgett. Sissy will always be cherished for her warm-hearted nature and her love for cooking. Her Sunday dinners brought the family together, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and delicious meals. Her passion for spending quality time with loved ones was evident, especially when she was with her brother Larry. Sissy found solace in hobbies like working on puzzles and crafting. Her love and warmth will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmery and Margie Padgett; daughter, Charlotte Ann Verdine; brothers, Jerry F. Padgett and Loveless Schriber, Jr.; sister, Debbie Padgett; sister-in-law, Elaine Padgett; nephew, Chris Padgett; and son-in-law, Gary Phillips.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Lorraine Paul and Tommie Elaine Phillips; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Wayne Padgett; niece, Jerri Nicole Cormier; son-in-law, Jimmy Ray Verdine; her friend and caretaker of 17 years, Lillie Richards; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be L.J. Underwood, Jr., Trent McIlroy, Lee Cormier, Slaytter Cormier, William Comeaux, and Clay Waldrep.
