Casey Viator, who was born and raised in Orange, is headed back to the NOBULL World CrossFit Games in Wisconsin next week where the fittest of the fit will compete.
Viator, 28, is a member of a two-man, two-woman team that qualified for World’s earlier this year in Pasadena, California. Viator’s other teammates are Abby Fletcher, Zach Ramirez and Cierra Cole. They are based out of Einhorn CrossFit Ascend in New Braunfels.
“I feel really good about this team,” Viator said. “All four of us were college athletes who love the challenge of Crossfit. We’re at the gym at 5am every morning getting better and supporting each other.”
Viator has battled back after suffering an injury last year that required surgery. “I let myself go a little bit so it was a challenge to get back to playing shape. But I feel good,” he said.
Viator (left), a 2013 LCM grad, is making his third trip to the Games. He qualified as a member with a different team in 2018 and 2021. His experience has earned him the title of Captain. “It’s nice to have the experience and be able to answer questions. But we still don’t know all of the events that we’ll be doing yet except for a 5K and some biking. But we have no idea what type of surface we’ll be on to run and ride. You get there and it’s ‘controlled chaos’ and you have to be ready for anything.”
The four day event consists of 13-16 events. They’ll start with 38 teams from around the world and that number will be cut to the top 30 on Day 3 and then the top 20 move on to the final day. Viator says the team goal is to make it to Day Four.
We wish Casey and his Einhorn teammates the best in Madison. The 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games will be streamed live on Games.CrossFit.com
