Verna Lee Waldrep, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Verna was born in Port Arthur, Texas to R.V. and Thelma Lee Waddell on June 27, 1929. Verna graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas and went on to earn an Associate Degree from Lamar; she graduated with honors. She was a hard worker, and her determination helped her become a business owner at a time when few women owned their own business. Verna owned and managed Beauty Salons in Port Arthur, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Orange, Texas. Verna loved children, she would take them all in and love them. She was a good cook and didn’t mind letting you know it! Verna was artistic and crafty; she could sew and paint. Her children stated that “If she loved you, she loved you, and you knew it”.
Verna is preceded in death by her parents, R.V. and Thelma Lee Waddell.
Verna is survived by her sons, Michael Waldrep, and wife Margaret, and Allan Waldrep, and wife, Rhonda; a daughter-in-law, Linda Waldrep; grandchildren, Clay Waldrep, and wife, Shelley, Wendy Totino, and husband, Shane, Manda Hall, and husband, Dave, Niki Waldrep, and Christopher Runyon, and wife Christine; great grandchildren, Brendon Waldrep, Jacelyn Waldrep, Lane Totino, Emilee Totino, Nathaniel Hall, Maggie Hall, Kirstin Peevey, Anthony Millovan, Linzee Neil, and Jenna Neil; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews; a brother, Robert Darrell Waddell, and wife, Dorothy; a sister, Linda Domingue, and husband, Ray; a very special and dear friend, William E. “Bill” McBride.
Verna was the firecracker of the family and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
