Meantime a 28-year-old man is in the Orange County Jail for family assault and impeding breathing in connection with an attack on a woman Saturday morning.
The woman told Orange police her husband had taken her phone and locked her in their apartment. During the time she was inside, he first strangled her with his arm, then strangled her with his hands, and next tried to smother her with a pillow over her face. He also punched her in the face.
The woman said her husband started accusing her of cheating about 3 a.m. Saturday and that’s when the attack began. She told police a maintenance man knocked on the door at 10 a.m., allowing her to escape.
The apartment complex is at 1604 Cherry Avenue, across the street from Orange City Hall. Police said when the woman got away, the man ran off. Officers found him at a nearby convenience store and arrested him.
Tyrone Lapose Dubose is in the jail with a bond set at $15,000.
