A woman attempting a U-turn while in traffic on Hwy. 105 Thursday morning caused a five car accident.
Megan Fontenot, 27, of Orange, was traveling east on 105 with her three year old and was sitting in traffic waiting for the light at the 105/62 intersection. She then preceded to drive on the shoulder of the road, passing vehicles. When she reached the Elk Drive intersection she told police she saw a break in the line and decided to make a U-turn and start traveling westbound on 105.
She was struck by a Ford F150, driven by Anthony Hunter of Lake Charles who was traveling west. The impact pushed Fontenot’s vehicle into the ditch. Hunter’s truck then struck three other vehicles that were in line.
Acadian transported them to Beaumont hospitals for various injuries and Fontenot was cited with failure to yield.
