
Two women had to be taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital after a three-vehicle collision Monday evening on Highway 87 North at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Orange police report a 2010 Honda Civic driven by a 16-year-old hit another sedan after attempting a left turn from the highway onto MLK. The traffic light did not have a green light for a protected left turn, police said.
According to the accident report, the Honda was traveling north on Highway 87. A 2008 Nissan Maxima and a 2017 Toyota Highlander were traveling south.
The Honda turned west and hit the driver’s side of the Maxima. Then the Highlander hit the passenger side of the Maxima.
The driver of the Maxima was 59-year-old Maria Ingram of Orange. She was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
70-year-old Jackie Sullivan of Orange was driving the Highlander. She was also taken by Acadian to Baptist in Beaumont.
Police report the teenage driver was given a ticket for failure to yield right-of-way.
