Wrong GPS directions caused a tree injury Monday morning and led an 18-wheel truck rig to call Orange police. Officers at 7 a.m. went to 20th Street and Burton Avenue because a tree limb had become stuck in the truck.
Police report the driver of the 18-wheeler said he was on the way to Firestone, 5713 FM 1006. However, his GPS system said the chemical plant was at 20th and Burton Avenue. That neighborhood of Burton is part of the historic district and has old live oak trees lining the streets.
A limb got stuck between the cab and trailer of the 18-wheeler. The city’s street crews came and removed the branch. The truck was then able to go to the destination on the other side of town.
A second dog in recent days has been reported stolen as part of a split between partners. On Monday morning, a woman living in the Roselawn neighborhood reported her American bully puppy had been stolen. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the suspect had been the woman’s boyfriend. During the weekend, a chihuahua was reported stolen in a similar situation.
