BASEBALL
Hunter Perkins got the win in a pitchers duel Tuesday as the LCM Bears won at Nederland 2-1. Perkins finished with 8K’s. McNeil, Bandiero, Landry, Krummel and Moreland had hits to lead the offense.
OF beat WOS 7-1. Gunner Jones got the offense started with a 2 run homer in the first. Kadeon Evans was credited with the victory lasting four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero. Jace Gipson threw one inning in relief. Veitch took the loss for WOS. OF improves to 7-2 on the season, and will play in the Silsbee Tournament later this week.
SOFTBALL
OF beat Buna 14-1 in the district opener. Ryden Stanfield went 1 for 3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Joli Ponfick had 2 walks, an RBI and a run scored. Codie Sorge went 1 for 3 with a run scored. Emma Humplik had 3 walks with an RBI and a run scored. Tiffany Ciancaglione went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and 4 RBIs. Harleigh Rawls drew 3 walks, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Olivia Grant went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Hannah Dupuis had 3 walks with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Sorge got the win on the mound giving up just 1 hit with 11 strikeouts. OF (18-2, 1-0) travels to Anahuac Friday.
LCM defeated Hamshire-Fannett 7-1 to open district. Karson Friar (JR LHP) pitched the full game fanning 17. Payten Smith lead off with a hit in the bottom of the 4th and Carly Cogar bunts her over to second. Savanna Beard picks up the RBI with a fly ball to right field. The top of the 5th is when the Lady Bears let lose with Olivia Leavings leading off with a double and Madeline Stephenson driving her in. Bailey Frenzel then singles in Stephenson. Megan Peveto reaches on a single then Rylee Wizemann brings in both with a single. Beard singles with two outs then the Cami Shugart draws a walk which loaded the bases. Leavings draws a walk and gets the RBI. In the sixth inning the the Bears would score again on a couple of HF errors.
WOS lost to Lumberton 11-1.
