People living in the Old Orange Historic District love their old live oak trees and will protect them. One resident Monday morning called police after an 18-wheel tractor-rig illegally turned on Pine Avenue and knocked a large limb off a tree. The city has signs on Green Avenue warning big rigs that trucks are not allowed on the streets.
Officer L.L. Claybar said the woman was outside and saw the rig knock off the limb in the 500 block of Pine Avenue. The driver didn’t stop. The resident took a photograph of the truck with owner information for police.
Claybar reported the tree is on city right-of-way and belongs to the city. He contacted the trucking company in Camden, Arkansas. The company will fix the damage. The limb was so large that city street crews had to remove it from the roadway.
