The hallways at LCM High School are lined with Christmas Trees, Christmas music is in the air and a homemade igloo sits at the end of the display. The Trail of Trees is a big attraction every year says Activities Director Stacey Smith.
“Different school groups adopt a tree to decorate. We have about 40 trees and the different groups really take pride in representing their organization,” she said. “People value what they have a hand in creating.” The igloo made of milk and water jugs is a joint project between Student Council and the Engineering 4 Class.
“The igloo is a year in the making,” Smith said. “We’ve collected about 500 gallon jugs and that took a while. Then the engineering class, lead by Project Foreman Raymond Arrington, did the design and the construction.”
Smith said the Trail of Trees is more than a display. “Everyone loves Christmas. And during this time of the year we find that more teachers and students go out of their way to walk through the display and listen to the music while enjoying the decorations.”
