While everyone from locals to out-of-towners are opening RV Parks to try and take advantage of the proposed influx of people coming to work on the new Golden Triangle Polymers plant, Jose Gonzalez has come to town looking to create a different style of living.
The Houston native is creating the areas first Tiny Home Village in the area. It’s located off Pheasant in Pinehurst, just a block away from MLK Drive. Forty-two units averaging about 500 square feet each, with beautiful surroundings including ponds filled with fish.
The homes are made mostly of recycled materials. Put together in a “Lego style.” The walls are made of a mixture of recycled plastic and coffee bean husks. Then the blocks are filled with closed cell insulation.
“The Neovita homes are very sturdy and insulated,” said Gonzalez. “They’re rated for 135mph winds.” Most of the homes have a bedroom, a loft, a full bathroom, kitchen, sitting area, a porch, and glass on both ends of the home to bring in a lot of natural light.
“Yes we’ve chosen this area for this concept because of the proposed growth in the area,” Gonzalez said. “But we also chose it because the City of Pinehurst has been so welcoming and helpful. If it takes off, absolutely we would look at building another one in the area”
The Village will be a gated community. And Gonzalez stressed the word “Community.”
Living in a tiny home is to take a minimalist approach that is not for everyone, but it has increased in popularity. It’s a lifestyle that promotes less clutter, more organization, and more focus on what really matters to them.
Besides the ponds there are plans for a community garden as well as a gazebo with a grilling area.
Gonzalez says that six units will be ready for lease before the end of the year. The average price will be $1000 per month.
