Linemen don’t always get the publicity they deserve but few that follow the West Orange-Stark Mustangs have forgotten Morris Joseph who went both ways to help the Mustangs win back to back State titles in 2015-16.
This season Joseph (6-2, 275 junior) is set to lead the defensive line for the Memphis Tigers who went 8-3 and won a bowl game a season ago.
The Commercial Appeal out of Memphis ranks Morris as the fifth most important player on the team this season (out of the Top 10 feature).
Joseph, an All-AAC Honorable mention pick in 2020, is the Tigers’ returning leader in sacks and tackles for loss. Coach Ryan Silverfield told the CA there’s a high ceiling for Joseph’s potential. “I truly believe Morris Joseph has a chance to be the best defensive linemen in this conference.”
Joseph had seven sacks last season, tied for the most of any returning AAC player. He finished with 10 1/2 tackles for loss. He didn’t practice in the spring due to a shoulder injury.
