The Orangefield Lady Bobcats opened the second round of the playoffs with an impressive 8-2 win over Coldspring in Anahuac.
Abigail Curphy struck out 10 while giving up just 3 hits. One of those was a 2 run homer to Coldspring catcher Izzy Doggett.
Offensively Charlee Sanches doubled in Harleigh Rawls in the first to get things started. In the third, Curphy singled in Hallee Becker and Rawls after both had walked. Then with runners at the corners the Bobcats pulled off the double steal, with Sanches scoring from third.
In the fourth, after Aubree Beck was hit by a pitch, she ran home on a Becker triple. And in the sixth, it was big bat time as Beck and Rawls homered to add three more runs to the board.
Freshman Trinity Rosales took the loss, with 8 earned runs, on 7 hits, 6 walks and 6 strikeouts. Game Two of the series is Friday in Cleveland with Gm. 3 to follow if necessary. The winner will face the winner between Pollok Central/Danbury.

H-J 4 Vidor 3
A very spirited game between Vidor and Hardin-Jefferson to start off their series in Anahuac Thursday. The Pirates took the 3-2 lead in the fifth when Austin Cadroy drove in Cade Safer after he stole second.
But the Hawks would come up in the bottom of the frame and silence the Vidor crowd with a homerun over centerfield by Jude Flores to tie. Then they would follow that with Jude Yarborough scoring on a fielder’s choice after reaching base on a double off of Bryce Bushelle for what would be the winning run.
The Pirates threatened in the sixth when they loaded the bases with just one out but couldn’t get anyone across home plate. Then in the bottom of the sixth, Vidor RF Lance Beavers kept the Hawks off the board with a laser throw to catcher Josh McCord to tag out the runner for the third out.
Cadroy was 3-3 with an RBI as both the Pirates and Hawks had seven hits. LF Flores was also 3-3 with 2 RBI.
Luke McLeod and Triston Robinson combined to strike out 10 Pirates. Bushelle gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. Game Two of this series is Friday at 7pm in Anahuac. Game Three on Saturday at noon. The winner will play the winner between Bullard/Kilgore.
