Before I forget I want to congratulate a couple of people from the area who completed the New York City Marathon last weekend. I think I’d have a better chance of dunking a basketball than running 26.2 miles. What an accomplishment for Connor Alexander, Pam Guidry, and Evan Falgout.
Connor is an LCM grad living in New York. Evan is the daughter Jenny Evans Talbot who was a fantastic athlete at Orangefield. And Pam Guidry is Wonder Woman. At age 67 she is an incredible runner and also married to longtime Coach David Guidry who I haven’t seen in a while. Hope you’re doing well.

Well I know some of you are here to see if I talk about the LCM/BC band aid story. I didn’t give any personal opinions in the story because there were enough “sides” to it already.
What I want to believe is that a mistake was made by a coach and it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.
What I’ve been asked is, what did I witness? During that particular game I was taking pics on both sides. I didn’t see anything on the Bears sideline that would’ve made me think something was up. Coach Peevey doesn’t wear a headset. He paces up and down the sidelines, plotting his next move. When the defensive coaches are giving signals, they’re in the zone and barely look anywhere else but on the field. But if something was being relayed through their headsets, obviously I have no idea what was said. But it would have to be within seconds for someone to relay the play to the coaches giving the signs, then that coach to signal to the defense, before the ball is snapped. But I’ve never been in that world. You’ve heard the term “lawyer speak” well there’s a “coach speak” too.
Now what would I do if I was LCM? Knowing that my team had possession of said device (lawyer speak!) when it disappeared, I would buy BC another one. I was told they are between $400-500. For me it’s the right thing to do.

If you watched the Green Bay Packer game last weekend and thought you saw Coach Mark Foreman in a crowd shot, well you did. His kids, Tracy and Toby took him to legendary Lambeau Field and he said it was worth the wait. I’m betting he has either Mustang or Shoemaker gear under that jacket!

Only 5812 people in Orange County voted (10%) in the November 4 Election but twice that many have complained to us about the how terrible the wording of the propositions were. Claiming “lawyer speak” I have to somewhat agree. Not much advertising either to explain but sometimes they want it that way.
And speaking of politics, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron is throwing his hat into the political ring and is running for Lt. Governor. For a first timer that is big position to apply for. But the 35 year old also admitted that he has never voted before. Would you hold that against him if he was on your ballot?

We say Rest In Peace to Linda Claybar. The wife of former mayor Brown Claybar passed away and she was such a sweet lady. Many years ago we worked out at the gym at the same time and had many great conversations. Condolences to Brown and the family. We also lost the Shon Branham after a long fight against cancer. At KOGT we played “The Singing Sheriff” Faron Young so I dubbed Shon “The Singing Fireman” because he loved to do that as much as fighting fires.

Congratulations to the Bridge City Band for making it to State. A lot of hard work and long days for Tami Goss and her crew. And congrats to the school and boosters for supporting them because it’s not a cheap sport. I’d like to sit down with a judge during a competition and see how they do their job. It reminds me of watching judging in ice skating in the Olympics. The performance looked great but the score does not. Or vice versa. Maybe one day.

Also we have two more kiddos who plan on playing at the next level. Orangefield’s Hallee Becker is going to play softball at Alvin JC and BC’s Makenna Knight will play volleyball at Eastfield in Dallas where BC grad Taryn Doiron helped the Harvester Bees win a JC Div. III National Title.
