
Terry Lynn Kennedy, 77, of Salado, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2024, at her home in Denton County.
Born in Lufkin, Texas, on November 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Walter Harris Jr and Katherine Harris. Lynn was a beloved mother, aunt, daughter, sister, grandmother, whose remarkable personal traits, include gentleness, compassion, and kindness which shaped the life she lived. Lynn proudly served as teacher for 31 years, at esteemed institutions including Wharton, Broaddus, Mclewis, Orangefield, Vidor, and Florence. Lynn proudly served as an educator until she gained her wings. Among her interests were, an active participant with the VVA (Vietnam Veteran Association) and AVVA (Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America), where she served as President of Texas AVVA. Her commitment to these services ran for years. She also volunteered with the local VVA chapter from Killen, providing food and refreshments, at Fort Hood to our soldiers deployed and coming home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Don C. Kennedy Jr. and her parents, Walter and Katherine Harris. She is survived by her cherished son Scott Kennedy, and his wife Kim, sister Margaret Robicheaux, her Nephew Michael Sorrell and Niece Crystal Lynn Mattox, along with her great nieces and nephews and grandchildren, Elyssa Howell and Ethan Howell.
Service will be on Wednesday, Oct 2nd at 930am at Heritage Funeral Home, Harker Heights. Interment will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1100am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association; alz.org The students she taught will serve as honorary pallbearers.
