Al Granger has been looking at the property at the corner of 16th and Green almost since the Wells Fargo Bank closed there several years ago. He toured the building and while inside, he wasn’t looking at every wall and light fixture, it was what he saw outside that sealed the deal.
“Man there are a lot of cars that come through this intersection,” he said. “We all know it’s the busy intersection in the center of town but you really don’t realize how many vehicles come through until you just stand and watch.”
By the end of the month, the Team Granger Supercenter will open. It will be the fourth location for Team Granger, joining Granger Chevrolet, Granger Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, and Granger RV.
“The Supercenter will feature preowned cars, trucks and SUV’s and we’ll also have some new RV’s there. We will also feature what I guess you could call the first indoor shopping mall. We can showcase a number of vehicles inside and may feature some specialty cars and exotics,” Granger said. “We’re always looking to provide a better shopping experience.”
Granger opened his first used car lot, Automart, back in 1980 and has been successful in the car business ever since.
“We’ve built our reputation with our slogan ‘handpicked quality cars and trucks’ and that still stands today,” he said. Competing or beating dealerships between Lake Charles and Houston, you can’t argue with Team Granger’s success. Try driving anywhere in Southeast Texas without seeing a Granger sticker on the back of a vehicle. And they’re doing it all right here in Orange, Texas.
