Tanya Yvonne Curtis Wilson was born on April 17, 1952, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Alan and Sara Curtis. She was a 1970 graduate of Lutcher Stark High School and 1971 graduate of Chenere Business College. She was employed and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1971 after 15 years of service. Her passion for helping others was demonstrated in her tenure at M.B. North School (Secretary), M.H.M.R. (Secretary), and Dr. Alan B. Martin (Office Manager). Finally, she served 30 years at Orange City Housing Authority as Deputy Director of Housing where she impacted many lives. In her spare time, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-children, spending quality time with family and friends, shopping, and cooking.
Tanya lived life on purpose, her home was a warm and loving environment and a safe-haven to family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining family, volunteering in her church and community, and assisting others in any way possible.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart of 52 years the late Harvey Wilson, Jr. To this union 2 children were born one son Tommy Wilson, Sr and one daughter April Wilson Allen. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Tanya was called from labor to reward on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. She was preceded in death by her spouse Harvey Wilson, Jr., her parents Alan and Sara Curtis, maternal grandparents Leonard Christoph and Sarah E. Martin, paternal grandparents James I. Curtis and Alice Curtis, Alan Curtis (brother), and Tina Marie Curtis (sister). She leaves to cherish her memories two children of Orange, Texas one son Tommy Wilson, Sr. and one daughter April Wilson Allen (Valenti), five siblings Brenda Edwards (George), Aileen Franklin (Michael), Josie Curtis, Leonard Curtis, and James Curtis. Eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, Terranesia Guity (God daughter), and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Home going celebration will be Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Mount Olive Baptist Church 106 W Park Orange, Texas 77630. Service time is 2:00 PM. Visitation begins at 1:00 pM until time of service. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Orange.
