Deweyville schools were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a chase that started in Sulphur, La. ended near the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Hwy. 87 when three suspects exited their vehicle and ran into the woods.
Sulphur Police were notified of a robbery from a local bank. Three black males in a dark colored vehicle left the bank with an unknown large sum of U.S. currency. The suspect vehicle was located on I-10 westbound by Sulphur Police and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit reached speeds up to 130 miles per hour until they ran out of gas in Deweyville. The three suspects then fled on foot and were eventually captured with the help of the K-9 Units.
The Orange Police Department, Orange County Sheriffs Office, Texas DPS, and Newton County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the arrests.
