Susan Lynn Pursley, age 61 of Orange, Texas, joined her husband Alton in heaven on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Family and friends will gather for a memorial visitation from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a 6:00 PM eulogy service on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Susan was born on October 12, 1961 in Orange, Texas to parents, Melba Jean Mills Stephens and David Allen Stephens. She married her best friend and soul mate, Alton Carl Pursley on November 20, 1981 and the two shared 39 years together. Susan was a travel agent with Galaxy Travel for many years and was able to use her talents to plan many wonderful and once in a lifetime trips for many. However her greatest love was her family and she treasured being a mom, wife and “mini” to her grandchildren.
Susan was a Christian and always put God first in her life. She had a way of always being able to love and help others. She was truly an anchor for her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew her kind and giving spirit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton Carl Pursley, parents, David and Melba Jean Stephens, brother Ronald Stephens and sister Dale Penick.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Blake Pursley of Orange, TX and Katlynn King and her husband Mathew of Orange, TX, brothers, David Stephens and his wife Debbie of Orange, TX and Billy Stephens and his wife Cathy of Vidor, TX, brother-in-law Jimmy Penick of Orange, TX, sister-in-law Jo Stephens of Orange, TX, her precious grandchildren, Mia Rose King and Parker Grace King, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank SETX Hospice and Ben & Julie Rogers Cancer Center for their compassion and wonderful care of Susan during her battle and final days. The family also request in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to SETX Hospice or Ben & Julie Rogers Cancer Center.
