
Susan Lynn Cannon, 62, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Orange.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on June 7, 1962, she was the daughter of William “ Billy” Cannon and Nancy Corder Breaux. Throughout her life, Susan dedicated herself to her career as a paramedic, in both supervision and instruction. She took immense pride in her work, embodying the qualities of care and compassion that defined her professional journey. A vibrant and bubbly individual, Susan was widely known for her warm-hearted nature and her love for hugs. Her grandchildren were truly the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. With a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, Susan was a joy to be around, brightening the lives of all who knew her. Family was of utmost importance to Susan, and she lived by the principle that love and generosity should guide one’s life. She exemplified selflessness and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. A devoted Christian, Susan’s faith played a foundational role in her life, providing her with strength and purpose. In her leisure time, Susan enjoyed traveling, with a special fondness for cruises. She was an avid bingo player and cherished the simplicity and joy of the game. Her nurturing spirit and caregiver’s heart were evident in all her interactions, as she constantly sought to uplift those around her. Susan lived for many years on the Sabine River, where she found solace and joy in the beauty of her surroundings. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Cannon and his wife, Mitzi; her step-father, Leonard Breaux; and her sister, Teri Chesson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Coy “Woody” Nowell; her mother, Nancy Breaux; her daughter, Megan Hudson Crow and husband, James; her grandchildren, Emma Crow, and Colby Crow; her sisters, Jennifer Cannon and daughter, Emma Cannon, and Tami Kennedy and husband, Chris; and numerous other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
