The pool at Sunset Grove Country Club closed over a month ago for the summer and on Tuesday it closed for good as dirt was brought in to cover it up.
Manager Trey Smith said they will be building a patio area for those waiting to get into Tia Juanita’s Restaurant. Also if there’s a band playing on the deck they’ll be able to see and hear the band from the patio.
“It just wasn’t feasible with repairs that needed to be made plus the increase in insurance and liability. It’s not used as much and we get calls at night when people jump the fence and get in the pool,” he said. “We will make it a nice area where people can sit and visit.”
Smith said the golf course is doing well and that they spent a large sum of money upgrading the greens this year. The golf course was designed and built by Donald Ross in 1926.
