Mrs. Melissa McCorvy, Library Manager at St. Mary Catholic School challenged 4th through 8th graders to read at least five books that are nominees for the Texas Bluebonnet Award over a five month period. Nine students participated and not only qualified to vote for their favorite book but were invited to attend a special breakfast for voters, a Bluebonnet Breakfast. The students voted for eight different books. “Sergeant Reckless” won with only two votes. Students excitedly discussed the books as they enjoyed the delicious breakfast.
Ms. Julie Mulkey, a sales representative from Permabound , hosted the event that was much appreciated by the group of students.
