After five years serving as the City Administrator in Pinehurst, Jerry Hood announced his resignation Tuesday at Pinehurst. Hood cited unforeseen family needs as his reason for stepping down. He thanked the council for their support and especially the city employees for their work during his tenure.
Council also praised Hood for his time and efforts, stating that he will be missed. Hood came to Pinehurst from the Orange County Drainage District after a 20 plus year career in the military. He followed his brother Robbie to Pinehurst after accepting the same job for the City of Vidor.

Pinehurst Police Chief Stephen Stroud, who is approaching his one year anniversary with the city, was appointed by council as the new acting City Administrator. He will also keep his job as chief. Asked if he was allowed to have both jobs at the same time, Mayor Pro Tem Mike Shahan said the city had a similar situation in the past with former chief Dan Robertson and Joe Parkhurst.
Stroud told KOGT he wants the job full time. He’s expected to be reevaluated in approximately 60 days. He will be put to the test as budget workshops will begin soon.

Also during the meeting, LaDonna Breaux complained to council about the way they handled the loss of water to all residents on Memorial Day weekend.
The city suffered two separate breaks on an 8″ line that drained the tanks. The city had the perfect storm of no one at city offices, several key figures out of town, and the lack of communication.
Following Breaux’s complaints, the agenda featured a discussion on an alert system that residents will be able to sign up for when it’s completed and added to the city’s website. After an explanation from City Secretary Michelle Andreu, council voted to spend the money on the alert system.
