The Pinehurst City Council met in a special session Tuesday night and hired Stephen Stroud as their new police chief. He replaces Chief Chris Humble who left to work for the LCM Police Department. Jocelynn Trussell has been the interim chief.
Stroud, 48, is a Vidor native who has spent the last two years working for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Before that he spent time in law enforcement in Galveston, Sabine County, Center, and Shelby County where he also worked as an investigator with the District Attorney’s Office.
This will be his first job with the title as Chief of Police.
“I’m excited for the opportunity and thankful to the council for choosing me for the position,” he said. Council interviewed two candidates Tuesday and then in open session, Councilman Troy Pierce made the motion and Councilman Joey Vance seconded.
Stroud has somewhat of a connection with the department. He said his wife was a dispatcher with Pinehurst years ago. “The department will continue to serve the citizens with professionalism and we look forward to working with area agencies.” Stroud will officially start his new position in two weeks.
