Two thunderstorms, one Tuesday afternoon and one about 4 Wednesday morning, brought six inches or more of rain across Orange County. Some private gauges recorded up to a total of eight inches.
The morning storm brought winds up to 25 miles per hour and gusts up to 39 mph, according to the National Weather Service station at the Orange County Airport.
The morning storm knocked down tree limbs and caused electrical outages across the region. At 4 p.m., the Entergy outage map showed scattered areas around the county without power. The biggest area was in the Roselawn neighborhood in Orange.
Some streets and highway areas flooded. Because of the rainfall in the river basin, the Sabine River Authority this morning opened all Toledo Bend flood gates to one foot each. Yesterday, the authority had only five gates open at one foot.
In the afternoon the lake was at 172.7 feet. It is full at 172.5 feet.
The rain gauge at Pier Road in Orange had three inches Tuesday afternoon and three inches Wednesday morning.
