St. Mary Catholic School students entered the Veterans Day Art and Essay Contest presented by the Texas Association of Student Councils District 17. The TASC District 17 includes Orange, Jefferson and seven other counties .
Verick Rincon, seventh grade, won 1st Place in the Art Contest and the Essay Contest. He was awarded $100 for each award. Cort Hickman, sixth grade, placed 2nd in the Art Contest, receiving $50. Haley Johnson, sixth grade, placed 2nd in the Essay contest received $50.
St. Mary School will sponsor their Annual Veterans Day Program on Monday November 12. All Veterans are invited to attend and be recognized. Rincon and Johnson will both read their award-winning essays during that program.
