A 20-year-old was arrested Tuesday for aggravated assault in connection with threatening to kill his mother and using a knife to stab the door to the bedroom where she had barricaded herself.
The woman was not hurt, but police said the man’s hand was bleeding and blood was on the door. Kane Michael Ramirez was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail to face the aggravated assault-family charge.
The incident was reported at 6:42 p.m. in the 1900 block of Greenbriar Avenue in the Greenway Park neighborhood.
Orange Patrol Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported the mother had allowed the son to live at her house for a short time. They began arguing about following her rules and him drinking alcohol. As the dispute escalated, the woman went to her bedroom and barricaded the door.
The man then went and got “a large silver” knife from the kitchen and went to the bedroom door. As he threatened to kill her, he stabbed at the door with the knife. The woman called 911.
When police arrived, the man had left. He was later found walking on Meeks Drive nearby. Officers confiscated a silver knife he had put in a sock.
