A&M lead off hitter Keeli Milligan is a freshman of the year candidate. The Vidor grad is hitting .384 with 10 RBI’s and leads Division I with 48 stolen bases in 51 attempts. The Aggies are an impressive 32-11 but have had trouble in the SEC where they are 6-9.
Sophomore catcher Taylor Fraccastoro (LCM) has been a team leader all season for the SFA Lumberjacks. She hit her 5th HR of the season Saturday and is hitting .322 with 23 RBI’s. Although the Lady Jacks have had some signature wins this season, they’re sitting at 19-23.
Lamar senior Sarah Ragsdale celebrated senior day last weekend with a school record 27th win of the season. Ragsdale was 2-9 in the series as they swept A&M Corpus-Christi. She also saved the third game of the series when she gunned down the tying run at home plate to preserve a 4-3 win.
Haley Mills (LCM) is having a tremendous season at Tyler JC. She’s hitting .331 with 4 HR and 44 RBI’s for the 50-1 #1 Apaches. Mills announced after this season she will move on to North Alabama where former teammate Raven Cole is playing. Mills’ teammate at Tyler, Khandi Breaux of Orangefield, has announced she will join the team at East Texas Baptist next season.
Cole threw a five inning no-hitter last weekend for the 43-5 Lions. Cole is now 22-1 and is tied for the school record for wins in a season. Her team also clinched the Gulf South Conference for the first time in 30 years.
Wendy Gillet went 4-4 with 3RBi and a HR last weekend as Centenary reached the conference tournament this weekend. Gillet is hitting .425 with 37 RBI’s. Her teammate Kylie Bradley (OF) is hitting .269.
