The Orangefield High School Class of 2020 Valedictorian is Colton Smith. His twin sister, Chloe Smith, is the Salutatorian. They are the children of Edward and Kathy Smith.
Colton has been involved in many organizations during his four years of high school. These include National Honor Society, where he served as president his senior year, Interact Club, where he served as secretary his senior year, Healthy Cats Club, where he served as vice president his junior year, Student Council, and marching band. He was also vice president of his class his freshman and senior years and secretary of his class his sophomore and junior years.
Colton has volunteered with Camp Fire USA, Catholic Charities, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was also part of the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Youth Council.
His academic honors and awards include being a Lamar University Mirabeau Scholar, having perfect attendance his entire school career, being on the all “A” honor roll his entire school career, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and a Big “O” Merit Award for English. He is also a first degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Chloe’s clubs and organizations include National Honor Society, where she served as vice president her senior year and Student Council, where she served as president her senior year and treasurer her junior year. She was the founder and president of the Healthy Cats Club. She was also a member of Interact and marching band. Chloe participated in UIL Creative Writing and Current Events. She was also a class officer all four years of high school, serving as class president her freshman, sophomore, and senior years and vice president her junior year.
Chloe’s community involvement includes volunteering with Camp Fire USA, the Houston Food Bank, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and Catholic Charities to provide Hurricane Harvey and Tropical Storm Imelda disaster relief. She was also part of the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Youth Council.
Her academic honors and awards include being a Lamar University Mirabeau Scholar, having perfect attendance her entire school career, being on the all “A” honor roll her entire school career, and a Big “O” Merit Award for English. She was a Girls State Delegate, a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Delegate, is a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and is an Adobe Certified Associate in Visual Communication using Adobe Photoshop CS6. She is also a first degree black belt in Taekwondo.
They will both attend Lamar University.
