Springfield, Louisiana is a town of less than 500 people near Baton Rouge. A small town with a big heart.
The Springfield area was one of those hard hit by the Louisiana floods of 2016. When they learned of what Harvey did to the newly renovated schools in the small town of Mauriceville, they sprung into action.
Students writing down words of hope, as an assignment, to send to Mauriceville students turned into a collection project called the “Flood Bucket Challenge.”
Students and their parents, teachers and friends fill 5 gallon buckets with various items. They then drove three trailer loads more than 200 miles to Mauriceville where they distributed them through the school, and also cooked food for two days.
There’s no doubt that the people of Louisiana have stepped up to help Southeast Texas in their time of need. A-Plus!
