A fire was reported earlier Monday at about 4:00 AM at the Camelot Apartments on Park Avenue. The Pinehurst Volunteer Fire Department responded quickly with four fire fighters. Fire Chief Shon Branham said the cause was a heating switch that did not work properly which made the wiring to dangerously overheat. Branham added that a breaker switch did function properly and flipped off or the situation could have been much worse. The fire was confined to just one apartment which did have some faint smoke damage according to Branham. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the resident of the apartment was moved temporarily to a motel at no charge while the owner of the Camelot Apartments has the heating system repaired.
