Narcotics officers in Orange arrested a man Tuesday for evading arrest after he led them on a chase through a residential neighborhood off 16th Street. Sergeant J.C. Steele said he was patroling with Sergeant Stephen Ward on 16th Street about 12:30 p.m. when they saw a vehicle turn right on Sunset Drive without using a turn signal.
They turned and the car began speeding away and turned right to go north on Alden Street. The vehicle would not stop for the red flashing police light and ran stop signs through the residential streets.
Steele said the vehicle ended on Putnam Street and then stopped for the officers at a shoping area at Putnam and 16th.
