Orange had 16 vehicle burglaries during the weekend, with 13 Friday night at two Interstate 10 hotels.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said windows were broken in the cars and trucks at the hotels. The burglars mostly stole loose change and firearms.
“This was a quick smash and grab and they were gone,” he said.
Orange detectives Monday were reviewing surveillance recordings. The vehicles were at the Hampton Inn, 2080 Interstate 10, and the Holiday Inn, 2655 Interstate 10.
The first break-in was reported at the Hampton Inn at 12:26 a.m. Saturday. More calls continued to come from the hotel in the early morning into the late moring.
The first call to the Holiday Inn came about 6:30 Saturday morning, followed by more.
On Sunday morning at 9:26, officers were called to the 2000 block of Monterrey Drive in the Charlemont subdivision. An unlocked vehicle had a Beretta 9 mm pistol plus a bottle of Mr. Burberry cologne stolen from the console.
Another car break-in was reported in the 2100 block of Treemont Lane Sunday. Enmon said one last break-in was at a house, but he did not specify a neighborhood.
