Pittsburgh’s Chase Shugart threw two innings of relief and picked up his first major league victory on Tuesday.
The Bridge City native threw the fifth and six innings, did not give up a hit or walk, and struck out three. His ERA this season is now 1.04 and his WHIP is 0.69.
Shugart, who had his number retired by the Cardinals in 2024, was picked up by the Pirates in the off season from Boston.
