Interesting fire call for the Orange Fire Dept. on Thursday.
Employees at the Water Tree on 16th St. smelled something burning when they arrived so they called OFD to investigate.
Their investigation led them to a set of cabinet drawers where they found sets of massage sheets burning.
The fire department said sheets and towels saturated in oils can spontaneously combust in your dryer or storage, even after they’ve been washed. Use caution when drying or storing linens exposed to oils.
Water Tree owner Anna Smith said they had been washing/drying and putting up sheets before they leave for years and haven’t seen or heard of this issue. She’s just glad it wasn’t worse and was appreciative for the departments response.
