Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Hollywood Community Cemetery under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11am until 1pm.
Shantell Sharonda Jordan was the daughter of Debbie Jordan and Robert Washington, born Saturday, July 16th, 1977, in Orange, Texas.
She attended school in Orange and resided here all her life.
Growing into adulthood, Shantell was a strong, independent woman who depended only on herself. Her strength and belief in herself was not overcome by how cold or hot the weather was or any other of life’s daily challenges that most would give in too. The ups and downs that surfaced due to her health were things that seemed to be answered by her with “I got this.”
Many who travelled 16th Street would often see her making her way from one end to the other. And after a while, there were those who made it their business to go that way hoping to see her. A kind gesture would be shared, and smiles exchanged.
Most merchants on that busy roadway respected her independence, called her a friend and quietly cared for her, when she smiled and allowed.
A Pastor nearby recalls a memory to be forever cherished. He shares that out of the blue, occasionally, Shantell would come to church during Sunday service, walk to the front, put an offering on the table, and quietly walk out.
Shantell passed Friday, May 30th.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Debbie Jordan.
Cherishing her always are her son Treint Jordan of Orange, her father, Robert Washington (Bridget) of Kinder, LA, brothers Quincy Raney (Rebecca) and Robert Washinton, Jr., and sister, Takedra Jones, all of Orange, and a number of other relatives and friends.
