Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is pleased to announce the 30th anniversary of their Annual Community Trash-Off event. This beautification initiative for the Orange community exemplifies Shangri La’s mission of encouraging others to “Be Kind to Your World.” Community Trash-Off will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The presenting sponsor of this event is Dow. Participants are encouraged to organize their teams and complete free online registration at shangrilagardens.org.
“More than 30 years ago, Michael Hoke envisioned an event that would bring our community together to help make Orange a cleaner, better place to live and work. As we continue to pursue that vision, we invite all of our neighbors to join us for the 30th Annual Community Trash-Off and show the pride and resilience we share as a community. We encourage everyone to take a moment from their day to contribute to this common goal,” said Katie Krantz, Associate Director of Shangri La.
The morning of this special event begins at the City of Orange Riverside Pavilion, located at 709 Simmons Drive, where teams will meet and then disperse to their clean-up locations. Clean-up efforts are focused directly on Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst.
“Dow is excited to sponsor this annual community trash clean up. This event is a fantastic opportunity for our employees and neighbors to join forces to create a cleaner and greener home for our families and friends in Orange. Let’s come together and make a real difference!” said Christina Babcock, Public Affairs & Special Projects Leader at Dow.
Teams can expect to build camaraderie by working together to clean trash from neighborhoods and waterways. The event culminates with a free lunch for all participants to enjoy while their hard work is celebrated.
“A special thanks goes to Dow for being this year’s presenting sponsor, as well as Mayor Larry Spears, the City of Orange staff and the dedicated volunteers who make this effort possible,” said Krantz. Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center is located at 2111 West Park Avenue in Orange, Texas. For more information about Community Trash-Off, please visit shangrilagardens.org.
