Looking from Orange it looked like everything to the South was on fire Wednesday afternoon.
Two large controlled marsh fires were burning to the south of Chemical Row. The fires were started because of a strong north wind to keep the smoke out of the area. They are done yearly to manage wetlands and other habitats, control invasive species, and reduce fuel loads.
There was also a brush fire off of Irving St. in West Orange, the WOFD along with Little Cypress and Bridge City fought and later tapped out.
There was also two other reports of brush/grass fires in the county. The low humidity and strong winds are fire fuel and you are asked to control your burning and do not throw cigarette butts out of the window during these conditions.
