Baseball, softball and track took center stage Saturday. Well actually the weather took center stage but by the end of the day all the games were played and the races were run.
LCM’s Eli Peveto brought home silver medals in both the 3200 and the 1600 from the State Track Meet. He bested his school record in the mile by five seconds with a time of 4:15.7.
BC’s Caryss Carpenter finished sixth in the high jump. She tied for second with five others at 5-2 and the tie was broken by the number of misses.
The Orangefield baseball team advanced to the third round after beating New Waverly 8-6. The game included a 3 hour rain delay. OF will play Pollok Central after they defeated Van Vleck.
The BC Cardinals had their season end by last years state finalist, the Sweeny Bulldogs. The game, that was moved to PNG, ended in an 8-1 Bulldog win.
In other baseball scores Columbia beat Liberty in three and H-J beat Brazosport.
In softball Orangefield lost to Danbury 17-7 in five innings. Also Buna was eliminated by Diboll.
