The Orangefield Bobcats and the Bridge City Cardinals met in the Championship Game of the Bill Tennison Memorial Tournament Saturday afternoon with the Bobcats winning a spirited game 66-61
The Cards hit some big buckets early and jumped out to a nice lead and were able to hold on to it throughout the first two quarters and held a 32-29 lead at half.
The Bobcats chipped away in the third and with five minutes left in the game the Bobcats had their largest lead at 54-49 and would not relinquish it.
“It was a tough game. That’s a good team over there,” said first year Bobcat Coach Brian Whitmire. “I’m really proud of our guys. We had to deal with some adversity and the guys stepped up and found a way.”
They were led by Jaden Scales with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal. Griffin Thomas with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Zane Wrinkle with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Kane Smith with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Scales, Wrinkle and Smith made the All-Tournament team. The Bobcats finished the weekend 5-0 in the tournament which moves their record to 13-1 on the season. Orangefield will be back on the court Tuesday in their district opener at Buna.
BC was lead Aaden Bush with 17, Jagger Carlin with 16 and Breaux with 13. Breaux and Bush made the All-Tournament Team.

Vidor went 3-2 in the Orangefield tournament. Standout Performances were Bryce Loftin with 37 pts in game 1, Jose Guerrero-Evans with 23 and Caden Beavers in game 2, Brayden Root with 14 pts and 9 rebounds in game 4, and Eric Baker with 18 pts in game 5. Bryce Loftin and Jose Guerrero-Evans were nominated to the all tournament team.

West Orange-Stark defeated LaMarque 53-42 on Saturday at the Tennison Tournament. Javaughnte Richard led WOS with 17, Jamar O’Neal had 11 and Andrew Cooper had 10.

LCM lost to Anahuac 78-68 at the H-J Tournament and fall to 6-10.

GIRLS
The Lady Bobcats finished the Bill Tennison Tournament 5-0 and are on a roll. They took down Deweyville today to round it out, 68-23. Mikayla Locke led the way 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Brooklyn Wagoner had 10 points, to go along with 3 rebounds and a steal. Rebecca Durbin was strong on the boards with 6 rebounds and 8 points. Kaylea Gravett had great vision on the floor with 8 assists, 3 steals, 4 rebounds, and 4 points. Greenlea Oldham chimed in with 6 points and 4 rebounds. The Lady Bobcats will travel to Buna on Tuesday to pick back up District play.

The Vidor Lady Pirates beat Nederland 46-14 and topped the day off with a 65-27 win over Lee at the Tennison Tournament. Lady Pirates up their season record to 14-3, 1-0.
