
BC’s Austin Frederick steals second by a foot
Friday’s rain pushed several area baseball and softball games to Saturday and Monday.
The Bridge City Cardinals have started district play 2-0 with a two game sweep of the Silsbee Tigers after a 4-2 win Saturday.
BC broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth when Hunter Ford drove in a run with a single. Austyn Frederick followed that by reaching base on an error, bringing in another run.
Max Pachar got the win in relief as five BC pitchers were used in the win. BC will play Vidor away/home next week.

Vidor beat WOS 9-2 to improve to 2-0 in district. Sims, Parish and Bryant combined for the win. Austin Cadroy and Bryce Bushelle had three hits each and Cade Safer was 2-3 with 3RBI’s. Next week Vidor plays BC and WOS will face Lumberton.

Orangefield’s Brycen Tait threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 as the Bobcats blanked Warren 8-0. OF had 11 hits with two each from Kane Smith, Caleb Fregia, Camden Fountain, and Matt Johnson. Bobcats ride a 4 game win streak to Buna on Tuesday.

On Thursday, LCM played a non-district game at Lufkin Hudson and lost 7-5. The Bears had three hits, one each from Justin McCarver, Marco Bandiero, and Jakob Scheiderer. The Bears walked 8 times, three by Parker Freeman. The Bears start district next week vs Bridge City.

SOFTBALL
LCM and Lumberton put on a hitting display at The Pete, combining for 26 hits with Lumberton winning 11-10. Eden Frenzel was 4-4 with 3 runs and Lexis Moss was 3-3 with 2HR’s and 7RBI’s as those two collected 7 of the Bears 10 hits. Jacelyn Cook added a two run double. The Lady Raiders had four homeruns, two by catcher Bella Hebert and one each from Madagyn Boudoin, and Gracie Brown.
