Sammy was born in Houston, Texas on November 28, 1940 to parents, Pauline Brzezicka Owens and Carl Lee Owens. He married his beautiful wife of 58 years on August 29th, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange, Texas. The couple became members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church when it first opened its doors. Sammy retired after 27 years of faithful service from Orange County as the Building Permit Director and Flood plain administrator.
Sammy was a true fan of West Orange Stark Mustangs Football. He rarely missed attending a game, but if he did, he was watching online. Sammy was also devoted to taking care of his lawn and the lawns of his neighbors, also mowing down ginger’s flowers he swore he never saw. He was always excited just to be on that riding lawn mower. Sammy had a love for Elvis Presley music and made sure he sat in the front row of Sunday mass and did his best Elvis impression to the hymns. Sammy had that wonderful caring spirit that just seem to bring out the good and kindness of people, never meeting a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends that he loved and adored.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pauline Owens and his brother Bobby Owens.
