
Orange County and the main cities continue to get more money from sales taxes, showing a strong local economy. The Texas Comptroller’s Office this week sent payments covering sales for April. The payments are:
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $144,185 for the month. $912,300 for the first four months of the year compared to $690,066 last year, a 32.2 percent increase.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $416,628 for the month. $2.8 million for the first four months compared to $2.2 million last year, a 27.5 percent increase.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $57,775 for the month. $358,500 for the first four months compared to $314,211 last year, a 14 percent increase.
Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $229,155 for the month. $1.53 million for the first four months compared to $1.25 million last year, a 22.1 percent increase.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $89,395 for the month. $652,179 for the first four months compared to $587,254 last year, an 11 percent increase.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $459,054 for the month. $2.8 million for the first four months compared to $2.13 million, a 30.8 percent increase.
