The Texas Comptroller’s office sent cities and counties their sales tax allocations for the month of June this week. Orange County and several local cities also showed an increase in sales tax receipts for the month.
The county had a 7.83 percent increase, but for the year the county is still almost eleven percent below last year’s sales receipts. Leading the way was the City of Orange which had a more than twelve percent increase for the month and is the only city in the county showing an increase for the year at about eleven and a third percent.
Pinehurst and Vidor were both on the upswing for the month. Pinehurst increased its sales tax by 7.16 percent and Vidor by eight and a half percent. West Orange had a very slight decrease of 1.8 percent for the month and for the year overall of less than one percent. Bridge City had a drop of 5.53 percent for the month and remains in the negative for the year at 8.27 percent.
