
Sales taxes across Orange County were strong in May as stores, restaurants, and bars opened after being closed in April.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the taxing entities their shares for the month. The payments in Orange County are:
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $157,500 for the month, compared to $134,300 for May 2019, an increase of 17.25 percent. $1.09 million for the year to date, compared to $1.02 million last year, an increase of 6.52 percent.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $440,000 for the month, compared to $395,000 for May 2019, an increase of 11.44 percent. $3.2 million for the year to date, compared to $3 million last year, an increase of 7.14 percent.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $54,000 for the month, compared to $52,000 for May 2019, an increase of 3.46 percent. $410,500 for the year to date, compared to $403,500 last year, an increase of 1.73 percent.
Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $294,400 for the month, compared to $247,000 for May 2019, an increase of 18.8 percent. $2.027 million for the year to date, compared to $1.82 million last year, an increase of 11.49 percent.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $102,300 for the month, compared to $101,200 for May 2019, an increase of 1.09 percent. $700,600 for the year to date, an increase of 2.15 percent.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $465,000 for the month, compared to $394,700 for May 2019, an increase 17.82 percent. $3.33 million for the year to date, compared to $3.18 million last year, an increase of 4.75 percent.
Emergency Services District 3 (Little Cypress Fire) (1.5 percent tax): $23,700 for the month, compared to $12,300 for May 2019. $150,000 for the year to date, compared to $99,200 last year.
