
Sales tax returns to local entities are continuing to increase a year after Harvey. The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent August sales tax shares to the cities, county and special districts. The month included back-to-school sales, including the tax-free weekend.
Money earned by local entities:
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $130,000 for the month and $1.5 million for the year to date, a 27.84 percent increase.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $389,000 for the month and $4.48 million for the year to date, a 22.77 percent increase.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $54,524 for the month and $584,000 for the year to date, a 14.5 percent increase.
Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $228,000 for the month and $2.5 million for the year to date, a 16.12 percent increase.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $88,734 for the month and $1.036 million for the year to date, a 9.42 percent increase.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $419,215 for the month and $4.5 million for the month, a 21.45 percent increase.
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 (Little Cypress Fire) (1.5 percent tax): $12,213 for the month and $158,000 for the year to date, a 7.99 percent increase.
