Sabine Title Company in downtown Orange has been sold to the largest independent title company in Texas, but it will retain a touch of hometown. Bill Shaddock, who grew up in Orange where his father was a physician, is the owner and CEO of Capital Title of Texas.
Signs on the office at 711 West Front Street are up announcing the change.
Sabine Title provides legal real estate property title research and title insurance. The company was owned for many years by the late lawyer Lynwood Sanders. Local lawyer Andrew Culpepper owned the company before the sale.
Shaddock, who is a lawyer, is owner of The Bill Shaddock Companies, which is involved in real estate development, mortagages and title. He is based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
He has been involved in restoring the old Southern Pacific train depot in Orange with the Friends of the Orange Depot. His father once served as the local physician for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company.
